FAQ's
My motorcycles have different chain sizes. Do I need separate Oinkers?
Yes. The dispenser is designed with holes that perfectly align with the link plates, ensuring an even and mess-free application. Using the wrong size will cause the lubricant to be misapplied, resulting in a mess.
What is my chain size?
You can find your chain size by checking the numbers stamped on the chain links or a quick Google search for your motorcycle's make along with "chain size" will give you the information you need.
How often should I lube my chain?
It’s generally recommended to lube your chain every 300-600 miles or after every ride if you're off-roading or riding in wet conditions.
Do I still need to lube an O/X ring chain?
Yes, according to Regina Chain, even though O/X ring chains have internal lubrication sealed by the rings, it's still necessary to lubricate them periodically. Lubrication reduces friction and heat between the rollers and bushings, improving efficiency and extending the life of your chain and sprockets. It also helps keep the O/X rings in good condition and protects the metal components from rust and corrosion.
Can I use WD-40 to clean and lube my chain?
According to DID Chain, using products like WD-40 or kerosene on sealed chains is not recommended. These can deform the seal rings and strip away the grease on the chain's surface, leading to rust and potential chain failure. For proper maintenance, DID recommends using lubricants specifically designed to be seal-ring safe, as these will protect your chain and ensure optimal performance and longevity.
